A fan-out cable: one 3.5 mm stereo plug at the source end, four 6.5 mm (1/4 inch) mono jacks at the other. It takes a single stereo output from a laptop, phone or interface and splits it into left and right pairs for a mixer, so you can feed two stereo channels from one socket.
What it is for
- Laptop or phone 3.5 mm output into a mixer’s 6.5 mm line inputs
- Feeding two stereo channels from one source (two pairs of mono jacks)
- Small setups where a DI box is overkill
Wiring
- Source end: 3.5 mm stereo (TRS) plug
- Output ends: 4 x 6.5 mm mono jacks (TS, big jack)
- Channel split: left and right are carried on separate mono jacks, two per side
- Build: moulded connectors, flexible jacket, fan-out split so the four tails reach separate inputs
Split length
The tails start splitting at a set distance from the 3.5 mm plug: about 25 cm on the 0.5 m version, 35 cm on 0.75 m, and 50 cm on 1 m and above. That is tuned so the four jacks can reach inputs spread across a mixer without the tails tangling.
Custom builds
Three, four, five and six-way versions can be made to order, along with other lengths. Message us with how many outputs you need and the length, and we will quote it.
FAQ
Is this a headphone splitter?
No – it splits one stereo signal into separate mono jacks for a mixer. It does not amplify, so all four outputs carry the same signal, not four independent volume controls.
Will it work the other way round?
The 6.5 mm ends are mono, so summing four of them back into one stereo plug does not give you a clean stereo mix.
Can I get six outputs?
Yes, three to six-way versions are made to order.
